It was life on the edge of the darkness
It was life on the tip of the blade
And despite all danger and the demons
Twas the price for which greatness is paid

But here is the dawn now
Here is the day
As the light breaks my nip-heeled stride
And the glorious morning will take it away
And leave with the passion and pride

In the light I am pale and hollow
In the dark I’m the serpent’s sharp tongue
But once in the light it is hard to return
To the blackness that once made me numb
