001908 The contents of John’s chest, when he investigates it are, to use a MSPAism “incredibly silly” which is a given at this point in the narrative as at the moment it hasn’t outgrown from mere referential and randomness humor.
“Among the ARTIFACTS are: TWO (2) FAKE ARMS [CURRENTLY CAPTCHALOGUED IN YOUR SYLLADEX], ONE (1) PAIR OF TRICK HANDCUFFS, ONE (1) STUNT SWORD, ONE (1) MAGICIAN’S HAT, ONE (1) PAIR OF BEAGLE PUSS GLASSES, SEVERAL (~) SMOKE PELLETS, SEVERAL (~) BLOOD CAPSULES, and ONE (1) COPY OF COLONEL SASSACRE’S DAUNTING TEXT OF MAGICAL FRIVOLITY AND PRACTICAL JAPERY, and ONE (1) COPY OF HARRY ANDERSON’S “WISE GUY”, BY MIKE CAVENEY. “
Some of these items, specifically Colonel Sassacre’s book, actually come back and are important to the plot later. The rest of them are either used right away, or not important or interesting enough to really constitute a dropped element by their lack of use.
I’ll be tagging Colonel Sassacre’s book, and any other things I consider relevant plot points to track the development of, so once this reread is done, hopefully we can see all instances where it and they come to be used, and if and where the plot sort of loses track of them.
I’m pretty sure the book actually kills somebody later.
