After we finally get to nickname our adorable little piglet, Juniper goes right back to the prepared speech, and Cheren goes right back to hurrying her up.

I’m starting to become very suspicious that he is also a fellow isekai truck non-survivor.

Bianca, meanwhile, doesn’t know wtf a pokedex is and I have no idea if that’s because she’s also an isekai protag, perhaps from a world without the pokemon games and anime, or if she’s just a moron.

This time Juniper pats Cheren on the back for his knowledge and I’m sure he feels like a special little teacher’s pet.

Despite Cheren’s knowledge, there’s no escaping the script.

The only knew information to Sin-kun in this speech is the fact that we’re in some place called “the Unova region”. That isn’t Kanto!!

We’re curious what might happen if we say “no” here but Sin-kun can’t even pretend to pass up the opportunity to go on a pokemon adventure, so a resounding YES it is.

She gives us our pokdex, and unlike the xtransceiver, which we still don’t know what the fuck it does, this tool we absolutely know what to do with! Even if there seem to be way more than the original 150 pokemon we initially expected.

Like, at a singles bar? because if you’re talking about meeting them out in the wild, I’m pretty sure even Bianca can work that out.

She heads out to Route 1 and asks us to meet her there.

Bianca. Sweetheart. You may be stupid, and you did trash my room, but we would literally die for you to go on this pokemon adventure. Fuck you dad.

 

Even Cheren’s being nice and agrees we can do anything we want. Fuck the po-lice!

Shhh, shhh, Bi, it’ll be okay.

Take over hyrule, obviously! Nah, we’re gonna become the Pokemon Master! 😂🫡

Every word out of Cheren’s mouth makes me more and more positive that he’s also an isekai protagonist. Good for him!

And with that, is it time to start our big adventure?

Nope! Someone is waiting for us as we leave and we’re also immediately re-ambushed by Bianca from behind.

Almost unsurprisingly, the person waiting for us is Mom.

Mom, she said it’s time for your baby boy to go out in the world and become a sweaty, camping, dog-fighting pokemon champion man.

I knew it!! She and Juniper are colluding in the league of MILFs!!

We get another gift from her; the town map.

Mom reassures us one more time that she’ll take care of the mess in our bedroom, and not to worry about it. She honestly seems impressed if anything, and thinks its cute that pokemon can destroy things.

What an icon.

You know what, mom? Yeah, we will.

Especially when we start collecting legendaries. There ARE legendaries in Unova, right?

Our cool mom also promises to handle Cheren and Bianca’s parents too, so like, fuck yes. Double icon. Way better than our old parents.

Mom wishes us well, in a not too tearful goodbye.

And then Cheren reminds us that he knows how to use a map.

Fuck, we knew we were forgetting something. Juniper still has to teach us how to catch pokemon before she releases us into the wild.

Sin-kun could probably catch pokemon in his sleep, but you can’t escape the script!

Okay, that’s silly, but honestly kind of adorable. Sin-kun starts tearing up about the fact that he has such good friends now. (and we maybe tear up a little on the other side of the screen, too.)

We finally show up after keeping Juniper waiting, and she gives us some more of the standard script speech. Man this really is an isekai!

Yeah yeah, we know! get on with it so we can really start the game!!

We didn’t get a shot of it because the battle animation went by too fast but patrat looks fucking demonic XD <3

In accordance with tradition, Juniper gives us some pokeballs. So that demonic little… badger?… weasel?…beaver?… will be ours as soon as we get into the tall grass!

Cheren has the lecture memorized. When we’re alone together, I’m going to ask him if he’s from another world, and play it off like a joke if he gets weird about it.

Accumula town isn’t named after a color… 🤔

Bianca has an idea. That’s dangerous.

It turns out she just wants to start a “legolas and gimli” style wager, with how many pokemon we can catch. Cheren is into it, and Sin-kun is up for it as well. We’re going to absolutely dominate.

And with that, they’re gone and we look out at the empty road ahead of us. A long road. A road we never thought we’d get to travel. It isn’t Pallet town, and we don’t have a Charmander in our pokeball, but still, it’s a miracle isn’t it? An opportunity. The beginning of a long adventure.
